Many younger people don't understand that this way of life back then was REAL ! Families really did eat together, pray together, and had many healthy social and recreational activities. :-) Just take a look at a Hammond's Times magazine from back in the early 1960's and see what a good majority of the value systems were. That all changed with TV and continued with the web. Back then there was no internet, video games or ipods to consume every square inch of time and brain matter. In fact, an A100 cost $2600 in 1961, MORE than many cars. I guess in the 40s-60s Hammond Organs were a common large-scale purchase for millions of households, like a car or a computer today. The Gibson guitar wood purchasing lawsuits comes to mind. What IS left of our dwindling mfg here in the US is attacked at every angle. My company is much smaller, and thank goodness because once a product gains a little volume mfg goes straight to China where there are no EPA regs, no unions, no patent trolls, no lawsuits, plenty of government assistance and currency manipulation that makes items cost less than their material costs. As a synth manufacturer, I'm fascinated with the whole Hammond story.
